Festival "Days of Caribrodska sušenica"

""Days of Caribrod dryer"" is a tourist-gastronomic competition event that has been held in Dimitrovgrad every autumn since 2014. At this event, local food and other products are exhibited, and the central part of the event is the selection of the best or highest quality ""sušenica"". Such dryed pieces of pork are characteristic for the way they are prepared and the taste for the Pirot region. Every year, the most successful and original exhibitors are awarded. Thanks to the ""Days of Caribrodska šušenica"", many tourists, as well as chefs and gastronomes, heard about this product and visited Dimitrovgrad for the first time, and the production and sales of local products increased. In the first few years, the manifestation lasted one day, and in 2019, two days. On that occasion, in addition to dried meat and various meat products, various domestic (local) products were exhibited: cheese, wurda, greaves, “sprža”, brandy and wine. Every year there are more and more exhibitors (in 2019 more than 250 exhibitors). The exhibition of domestic products and the competition part itself (selection of the best sušenica) are accompanied by various cultural and folklore events and concerts by music groups and famous singers. During this event, Dimitrovgrad is visited by a large number of tourists, mostly from Bulgaria. On that occasion, various exhibitors also present other ""accompanying products"" such as: processed fruits and vegetables, dairy products, souvenirs, pottery, wood products, iron products, kitchen materials and other handicrafts.
