Have you heard about the ents? Do you want to folllow their footsteps?
Once upon a time ....
This route will take you to the magical steps of the cross-border region Bulgaria-Serbia. Immerse yourself in the mystery of the forgotten Kingdom and rediscover the world of Wildlife.
The tour starts from Sofia, as the first stop on the route is Chokilovo or Choklyovo marsh. It is located near the village of Baikalsko, 24 km. from the town of Radomir. We suggest you to take a walk on the dirt road along the swamp, as well as to go down to the water itself. In many places there are wooden bridges on which you can walk to the water.
The next site that we will visit is the valley of the Struma river. Here we will get out of the vehicles and walk along the roaring river. We will go up to the Medieval Church "Assumption of St. Mary" near the village of Razhdavitsa, which has preserved its authentic appearance over the centuries. Here we will take a short break before heading out to the Shegava Canyon, where stone giants guard the river valley. Those of you, who are more adventurous, can embark on a race with the river rapids, armed with a paddle and a single kayak. After the emotions calm down and the hair - and the clothes - dry, we continue our tour much calmer - with a visit to the home of the Patriarch of Bulgarian Painting - Vladimir Dimitrov - the Master.
From there we head out to the town of Kyustendil, known in the past as Velbuzhd. We will head to the Ancient and Medieval Fortress Hisarlaka, perched on a hill at the foot of the Osogovo Mountains.
After the sightseeing tour of the fortress we will continue to the Century Sequoias near the village of Bogoslov. We will immerse ourselves in the mysterious and ancient world of majestic trees.
