The existence of a settlement on the land of today's village of Anton can be said in ancient times. And you should definitely refer to the distant Thracian era. Most of the mound necropolises are located in the vicinity of the village. An accidental find of a gold coin from the time of Emperor Leo I (457-474) shows that life here continued during the early Byzantine era. At the end of the 5th century and in the first half of the 6th century, the famous Elena Basilica was built and developed near the west as a significant spiritual centre.
Anton Municipality has the potential for the development of tourism and farming due to its good geographical location. From the village, one goes to the hut "Mountain springs" in the Balkan Mountains, which TA Pirdop manages.
On the territory of the municipality of Anton is located a small part of the National Park "Central Balkan" (about 5%) and the protected area Vartopa. Every year the traditional hike along the ridge of Stara Planina passes through the municipality. In the Development Plan 2014-2020, nature/ecotourism is thought of as alternative tourism with increasing interest; it also plans to create a joint tourist product with the neighbouring municipalities.
