On April 18, 1981, the building of the Cultural Complex in the city and the building of the Historical Museum with the first museum exposition were officially opened.
According to its profile and the nature of its funds, the museum is general history. The Scientific Archive and the Library function as auxiliary units. It has a permanent exhibition and a place for temporary exhibitions. The exposition reflects in general historical terms the development of the Pravesh region from antiquity to the first decades of the 20th century.
Thematically - the exposition plan is developed based on rich photographic, documentary and material material - archaeological, ethnographic, etc .; valuable works of Bulgarian icon painting of the 17th - 19th centuries, stored in the fund. Part of the documentary material was additionally filmed by some state archives.
The exposition story is carried out observing the chronological and thematic-chronological principle of display of the museum exhibits.
In the exposition part of the museum, a reconstruction of a home corner with rich ethnographic material has been made.
Through videos, visitors can get additional information on individual topics in the history of the Pravesh region, and according to their interests can make their choice.
Museum complex (Reception building). In 2002, the Municipality of Pravets Municipality provided IM-Pravets with the Pravets Reception Building, which is currently used as an Exhibition Hall. It exhibits those handed over for safekeeping by res. "Boyana" - Sofia part of the collection of gifts of T. Zhivkov, presented in his capacity as head of state of the People's Republic of Bulgaria. The exhibits include objects from around the world and show the cultural diversity of different countries and peoples.
The Museum Complex also includes the Birth House of Todor Zhivkov, which is also open to visitors. In its current form, the house dates back to 1974, when it was restored. It is a late Renaissance, Balkan type house on two floors/floors / with architectural and ethnographic restoration.
