Cheparlenski monastery

The Cheparlenski Monastery ""St. Petka"" is located on the right bank of the river Nishava, 2 km east of the village of Cheperlyantsii. There is no exact data when the monastery was originally built but this place is honored by the locals as sacred from many years. The temple was built on the site of an early Christian sanctuary-consecration, in the foundations of which were found two Byzantine tombstones dating from the VI to VII century. The story of the monastery is related to Grandpa Andrew. He was born on February 6, 1880. At the age of 38, St. Petka appeared to him in a dream and told him: ""We have laid a hand on you and you must go to the"" Church ""area and build a new one on the foundations of an old monastery."" However, he does not take sleep seriously and that is why St. Petka appears to him with the same order. On the third appearance, the saint told him, ""If you do not fulfill this order, you will lose three of your family."" He still disobeyed the order. One Monday, his wife fell ill and died on Wednesday. His 14-year-old child died on Friday. Frightened in order to save his other newborn baby, grandfather Andrey gave it to Bai Stanko from the village of Cheperlyantsi and this act is preserved and dates from 1918. In this way he saves the child, but in order to fulfill the prophecy his horse dies. After all this happens, Grandpa Andrew goes to the specified place and begins to do everything according to dreams - he finds the foundations of the old temple and begins to build the current one. There he found both Byzantine burial plates. Then he built the bell tower and the Officer's Room and in this finished form the monastery was consecrated in 1942. Andrey Manov became the trustee of the monastery in the period 1941-1944.
