Description
The maintained Ostritsa reserve is located in the Golo Bardo mountain, within the municipality of Pernik and the municipality of Radomir. Ostritsa is one of the oldest protected areas in Bulgaria, declared in 1961 in order to protect some valuable plants.
Ostritsa Reserve is a typical botanical reserve at the foot of Ostritsa Peak. The southern slopes of the reserve and the peak itself are rocky, but in the rest there are about 300 species of plant species, most of which are protected.
The most significant are the grass species and endemic species such as urum tulip, Bulgarian carnation, celandine, etc.
The fauna is not very rich due to the specific relief and the small territory. But some of the common species are also rare: Carpathian scorpion, lizard and others.
Camping and lighting are forbidden in the reserve, but it is well socialized as a tourist attraction.
