Albotinski Rock Monastery

Albotinski rock monastery is a medieval rock monastery hidden from the tourists paths in the area Albotin in the gorge of Topolovets river between the villages of Gradets and Rabrovo, ca. 20 km. Western from Vidin.

The monastery is built in shallow natural caves on the northern side of the river. Additionally small rooms are carved out. The central part of the rock complex has been actively used as a monastery in the period XIII-XIV AD. Although, the rock church has been completely destroyed on the walls you can still spot some Christian mural paintings on the walls.
