Description
The Frog Monastery "St. John the Baptist ”is located in the Konyavska Mountain, near the village of Zhablyano, municipality. Earthly. The monastery has a church, residential and farm buildings. The church has three naves and was built in 1884. The monastery itself is older. It was destroyed during the Ottoman rule and rebuilt in the 18th century.
In 2005 the monastery passed to the Bulgarian Old Style Church, then, in 2009 - to the Church of the True Orthodox Christians of Greece, and from 2020 it returned to the Bulgarian Orthodox Church, but remained old style. It is institutionally and economically connected with the Kopilov Monastery.
Free-grazing cows and a trout pond are raised in the Žablja Monastery. They produce dairy products, honey, tarama caviar, etc., which they offer in Sofia and online. The monks themselves work for the production of these products, and the funds raised are spent on the restoration of the monastery and the construction of a nunnery near the village of Kopilovtsi.
