Description
The church "St. Nikola ”is located among the fields of the village of Vukovo, near the river Struma, where in the past were the cemeteries of the village. This church can also be attributed to the sixteenth century by the logic of the other village church "St. Petka ”, but there is no reliable data on its exact date of construction. The temple is not functioning, but is freely accessible. In 2009, signs for the route were placed.
In 1968 the church “St. Nikola ”was declared a cultural monument of local significance, and in 1969 - an artistic cultural monument of national importance.
The church "St. Nicholas ”is a small vaulted temple with choirs. It is built of quarry stones, welded with mortar. The interior was completely painted, as well as the arch outside the entrance. Only partial fragments are preserved. The mural program has some features that distinguish the temple and complete the idea of church art in the sixteenth century. The masters followed iconic Cretan models from the 15th-16th centuries, which is the argument for dating the church itself.
